Last week the children worked together, with a partner, to create an Advent wreath. As you can see, the children came up with many different and creative ways to make their wreath. Lots of thinking, problem solving and team work went into this activity. Well done everyone!

This term as part of our Literacy groups, we have been focusing on rhyme and stories that have lots of rhyming words. This week we have read ‘The cat in the hat’. One of our activities is a ‘guided drawing’ activity. Here are some of the ‘Cat in the hat’ drawings that one group completed today. I was so impressed with the care and attention to detail they put into their creations. Great job!

Congratulations to all our stars in R/1 Black/Quinn. The children put on two fantastic shows last week that dazzled many Parents, Grandparents and special friends. We are so proud of all the hard work, persistence, energy and enthusiasm that the whole class put into their ‘Shrek’ item and into the whole school finale ‘Flashlight’. It certainly was a highlight for the year and an experience that the children will remember.

After their guided reading session with the teacher, the ‘Cyclists’ read their book again to a partner.

The ‘Swimmers’ read an information text yesterday titled ‘Spotty and stripy animal facts’. Today they had to choose four animals and write a fact about each one.

It has been great to see our speakers showing great eye contact and using a confident voice when speaking to the audience. Keep up the excellent work R/1 Black/Quinn. We look forward to hearing some more prepared talks this week from the boys.

Congratulations Sophie and Finn on becoming our class SLT reps for Term 3.

Last Friday, our class  joined Richard at his ‘Top Secret headquarters’. We were there on a mission, to help his friend Charlie the dog, find out why all the other top secret agents had become sick. Richard asked us to become ‘Top Secret agents’, we had secret agent 3-D glasses and learnt the secret handshake. We learnt all about healthy food choices, the importance of eating two serves of fruit and five serves of vegetables a day, and what a ‘balanced’ and nutritious lunchbox looks like. We explored some big words like carbohydrates, vitamins, protein and what they mean. We had so much fun being top secret agents……just ask one of us about our mission!!!!!

A very big thank you to Richard for providing our class with such an interactive, fun and engaging session on healthy food choices and nutrition.

Last Thursday, both of the R/1 classes met with Father Charles  to learn more about our Church. We looked at and pointed out some of the key features and symbols in our Church and learnt the names of many of the sacred objects and places in our Church. We thank Father Charles for taking the time to talk to us and for answering the many interesting questions we had about our Church. Thank you to Ewan and Grace for being our class SLT reps in Term 1. You did a wonderful job of representing our class at the SLT meetings and were positive role models in the classroom. Congratulations to Phillip and Charli-Rose who are our new SLT reps for Term 2.

Congratulations R/1 Black/Quinn on a fantastic Sports Day! You all showed great teamwork,  persistence and had lots of fun! Thank you to all of the parents who came along to support us on the day. Super effort everyone!
